A Kanji - A Day (11.05.08)

Although tomorrow is a holiday ("Fronleichnam") in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, I'll work my ass off since I get 50% more money. Therefore, I'll learn 10 Kanji today.


11. means "learn", "scholarship", "study" or "erudition" and is read:

On-Yomi:

a)
ガク (gaku), e.g. 園祭 (がくえんさい) / a campus festival, a school festival

Kun-Yomi
:
b) まなぶ (manabu), e.g. 代数ぶ (だいすうがくをまなぶ) / learn Algebra


12. means "air", "atmosphere", "spirit", "mind", "heart", "a will", "intention", "mood", "nature", "a disposition", "care" or "attention" and is read:

On-Yomi:
a) (ki), e.g. 持ち (もち) / feeling, a sensation, an intention
b) (ke), e.g. 配(はい) / an indication, a sign



13. means "rest", "repose", "absence", "sleep", "a break", "a recess", "a pause", "a holiday" or "a day off" and is read:
